After an intense two-hour search carried out by six law enforcement and emergency response agencies, a lost little boy was found safe and sound in the Jamestown area over the weekend.
Sweetwater County Sheriff Rich Haskell said that deputies responded at about 5:42 PM on Saturday [May 29, 2010] to a report of a lost two-year-old boy at an address in Jamestown, west of Green River.
The toddler was playing in a residence’s yard when he went missing.
A search, including a neighborhood canvass, was launched immediately, involving the lost boy’s family, sheriff’s deputies, Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers, Sweetwater County Search & Rescue, the Green River Police and Fire Departments, and Officer Bob Cottrell of the Rock Springs Police Department and his dog Gunner.
Deputy Sheriff Steve Paladino concentrated his search along the nearby Green River, which paid off when he found the boy, unharmed, inside a small structure on the riverbank at about 7:41 PM.
Deputies believe the boy followed a dog out of the yard and toward the river. “Gunner, the Rock Springs PD dog, was doing a good job tracking the child when Deputy Paladino found him,” Haskell said, and expressed his appreciation to all those who participated in the search.
